Myrtle Myers
is Product Manager, Holdings & Local Data at OCLC in Dublin, Ohio. Her responsibilities have encompassed design and implementation, support, infrastructure, and maintenance, for Local Holdings Maintenance, the old Union Listing service, WorldCat Resource Sharing, FirstSearch personalization, and WorldCat Collection Anlaysis. She has worked primarily with local holdings maintenance and interlibrary loan during her career at OCLC spanning more than 25 years.
Judy Murran
is Consulting Database Specialist at OCLC.
Shortly after joining the Batch Services team at OCLC, Judy became immersed in bringing the service formerly known as LDRUS successfully to production. She was one of the major forces behind OCLC’s implementation of the MARC Format for Holdings Data and continues to serve as a subject matter expert for OCLC’s Local Holdings Record format. Judy is the primary support for all batch Local Holdings Record Updating service (LHRUS) projects and provides training on the service to other Batch Services team members. She also supports the eSerials Holdings service for the Batch team. Judy originally came to OCLC with a background in cataloging to work on a large international project for OCLC TechPro.
Natalie Sturr
is Coordinator of Library Technology at SUNY Oswego and also works for the SUNY Office of Library and Information Services providing high-level technical support for the shared Aleph500 environment that serves 56 campuses. With over 25 years in librarianship and library technology, Ms. Sturr has implemented, migrated and maintained a number of applications including two integrated library systems, several flavors of OCLC access, and many database-driven projects to improve library workflow and services. Ms. Sturr is the 1998 recipient of the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Librarianship.
Lauren Pinsley
As OCLC Services Manager at Nylink, Lauren is part of the Member Programs team that provides user support and training for Nylink products and services, including OCLC products. A librarian and cataloger by background, Lauren has been a member of the Nylink staff since 1989. Since joining Nylink, she has developed many training sessions, covering topics ranging from cataloging of electronic resources and other non-print formats, searching WorldCat, local holdings maintenance in Connexion, and WorldCat Collection Analysis to data mining concepts. Lauren also teaches and supports users of the Connexion interface. Before joining Nylink, Lauren was a law librarian and she received her MLS from Queens College, Graduate School of Library & Information Studies (GSLIS), in January of 1981.
Caryl Ward
Caryl Ward has been the Head of Acquisitions at Binghamton University (SUNY) Libraries for the past six years, and previously worked in Serials for 17 years. She recently participated in a task force which reviewed workflows and staffing in Serials and identified changes necessary to meet the demands of managing electronic resources. The result was the creation of a new unit, Electronic and Continuing Resources. Caryl is currently chairing the Library’s Technical Services Task Force, charged with reviewing staffing, workflows, procedures and the organizational structure of the Technical Services Department at Binghamton. Caryl has been active in SUNYLA, has presented at the Charleston Conference on Library Acquisitions, and currently serves as a trustee at Your Home Public Library in Johnson City, NY.
Miguel A. Figueroa
is Network Services Coordinator for the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, Middle Atlantic Region at New York University Medical Center. In this role, Miguel provides training and support in National Library of Medicine (NLM) products, including DOCLINE, the interlibrary loan tool from NLM. Previously, Miguel worked for Neal-Schuman Publishers as Associate Director of Publishing, overseeing acquisitions of new manuscripts, marketing, and electronic products. Miguel received his MA in Library Sciences from the University of Arizona in 2003. He was named a 2005 Mover & Shaker by Library Journal.
Jeff Sohn
is Associate Librarian for Documents and Digital Collections at the New York State Library. His responsibilities include oversight of the state document and federal depository programs, and the development of in-house digital collections. He began his career at the State Library in 1976 working on the Library’s shelflist conversion and the development of the Library’s in-house online catalog, while he pursued his M.L.S. Over the years he held many positions in technical services including principal cataloger, senior state documents librarian, and head of preservation. Between September 2001 and January 2007, he served as Project Coordinator of the New York State Newspaper Project supervising staff in New York City and Albany. The Project successfully cataloged 22,785 newspapers, created 66,065 local holdings records, and microfilmed over 4.37 million pages of New York State newspapers.
