An Overview of Recent WorldCat Resource Sharing Enhancements
OCLC continues to make improvements to the WorldCat Resource Sharing system. Here is an overview of the most recent enhancements to WorldCat Resource Sharing:
- Additional deflection forWCRS users: Lenders can now deflect requests based on their lending costs and age of materials with an override capability if the lender is the last in the lender string.
- Improved printing for WCRS users: Users can now print shipping labels, book straps, book stickers and 1-per-page printing using either batch functionality or request-by-request. In April 2008, users will have improved 2-per-page printing using PDFs.
- Improved searching of completed request archive: Users can now search the request archive by request ID, bibliographic fields, lenders and borrowers.
- New Reasons for No: Users have an additional reason for no – Not licensed to fill – to accurately reflect restrictions on e-publications.
- Policies Directory update: Users who have not updated their Policies Directory information in the last 12 months now receive a reminder for them to update their policies. This assists in providing current and complete resource sharing information to all users of the Policies Directory.
- Policies Directory improved searching: In response to user suggestions and feedback, this enhancement returns more accurate results for the advanced search in the Policies Directory.
- Change in how &*8221;Not found as cited” is handled: When the reason for no is &*8221;Not found as cited,” the request will be immediately returned as Unfilled for the borrower to correct the citation. It will no longer be routed to any additional lenders.
- GAC, GAC/UL and UL affiliations displayed in lender requests: Lenders can now see a listing of the GAC, GAC/ULs and ULs that both they and the borrowing library have in common. This will improve the lender workflow, making it easier to recognize partners with whom they have lending agreements, and more accurately make policy decisions, and apply constant data and lending charges.
